The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R has gained a reputation for having excellent dirt manners while also boasting a sizeable ability to carve up the blacktop, and in 2021 it received significant updates. So significant in fact that KTM is claiming that 90 percent of components are new or revised. And some of them, such as adaptive cruise control
vs the 2023 890 you get bags and mounts which are around €400. Heated grips around €200. The various ride modes, quick shifter, CC etc.. which is over €500. Centre stand €100-150 depending on where you buy from. Aux lights €400 for the KTM ones. A potentially better skid plate. Weight without the add-ons is the same.
Related: 2015 KTM 1190 Adventure R. Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 $4,000-upwards. and it won’t be able to keep up with a KTM 1290 Super Adventure or BMW R1250GS on the road, but that is to ignore
We notice the torque difference when we swap his 1190s for my 1290. 1290 has slightly better wind protection. 1190 aftermarket cruise works better than my stock 1290. Stock crash bars on 1290 are good. Zero on 1190s. Just my experience riding with an inmate and his 1190s. I haven't ridden an 1190r.
